Singapore lifts the ACC U-16 Elite Cup trophy with a comprehensive 68-run victory over Nepal in the final match of the tournament. Batting first, Singapore known as a good batting lineup restricted on just 146-6
in their allotted 40 overs. Thanks to the stiff bowling line up both pace and spin of Nepal, which kept Singapore under pressure throughout the inning. But the man named Vikas Rajgopal stay as solid as pillar for Singapore inning and made patient 58 (107 balls) using maximum of the two-drop catches when he was 23 and 41. Devendra Somare, Satish Bhagat, Nischal Pandey, Rajeev Shah and Sushan Bhari Shrestha claimed one wicket each for the hosts.
In reply, Nepal made decent start scoring 31 runs for first wicket and could not hold nerves and threw their all wickets in mere 78 runs in 22 overs. Navin Param, an off-break bowler becomes nightmare for Nepal as he returns with 8-1-28-4 figures. Saisrikar took 3 wickets and Shivam and Abhiraj shared one wicket each. Navin Param declared Man of the final and Nichal Pandey, who scored 161 runs and took 15 wickets asserted Man of the series and Best bowler of tournament while Vikas Rajagopal selected for Best batsman.
After the match Nepal’s coach Roy Luke Dias wants give credit to Singapore for their outstanding performance. Arjun Menon, Singapore coach shows satisfaction with victory against strong team like Nepal. This is the first time Nepal losses final at the home ground.
