Just Nepali Cricket/October 3
Departmental teams, defending champion Armed Police Force (APF) Club and debutant team Nepal Army Club (NA) set a final clash of the fifth Pepsi Standard Chartered Senior T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.
At first semi final match, NA surpassed Region No 2 (Birgunj) on Net Run Rate (NRR) basis after the scheduled first match between them called off due to heavy rain. NA got +1.604 NRR and Kathmandu finished with -0.185 in league round matches.
In a rain reduced 13-over per side match, APF made a mammoth 143 losing four wickets with middle order batsman Sharad Vesawkar contributed a fluent unbeaten half century off just 21 balls. Paras Khadka also contributed 35 not out off 22 balls to make an easily defendable total. Chasing the massive total, Kathmandu was restricted to meager 60 runs losing four wickets in allotted 13 overs. Sompal Thapa took two wickets and Niraj Bhattarai grabbed one wicket for Kathmandu.
In the second inning, only three batsmen of Kathmandu could score in double figure with Suraj K.C. scoring 16 off 18 balls. Bibhatsu Thapa added 14 runs off 13 balls while Sujan Maharjan scored 11 off 22 for Kathmandu. However, their contribution was not enough to chase down the huge target laid before them. Defending the total,Yagya man Kumal, Bhuwan Karki and Shakti Gauchan took 1 wicket apiece for APF.
The final match between Nepal army Club and APF team to be held on Tomorrow at 10:00 AM at TU Ground, Kirtipur.
