After scrapping Under-15 and Under-17 for many dispute regarding age bar, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) introduced the new structure of the age level tournament in name of the Under-16 Elite Trophy.
Nepal will host the inaugural edition of ACC Under-16 Elite Cup Cricket Tournament in Kathmandu from March 8-18, 2010. Nepal, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and UAE will participate in the tournament.
The U-16 event will be the second international tournament to be hosted by Nepal in two months. Nepal is scheduled to host the ICC World Cricket League Division-V Tournament in February. Nepal already hosted the ACC Trophy (1998), ACC U-19 Tournament (2001, 2005), ACC U-15 Elite Cup (2007) and ACC Elite Cup (2008) in the past.
