Nepal dominates Hong Kong in opener

Nepali U-16 team begins the ACC U-16 Elite Cup cricket tournament in style with six wickets win over Hong Kong at Tribhuvan University Ground Kirtipur.

After winning the toss, Hong Kong chooses the bat and scored 84-4 by the 30th over before losing their remaining six wickets for just four runs. Thanks to Nischal Pandey’s figure of 6.4-3-6-4 supported by Sushan Bhari 8-3-22-3 for Hong Kong collapse. Nischal and Sushan accounted for the last five wickets while No 10 batsman Ajaz Khan was run out to end the Hong Kong innings. For Hong Kong, Skipper Miten Rajesh Khatri top scored with 27 runs and opener Anshuman Singh chipped in 18. Others fail to mark double figure.

In reply, after loosing the opener Nishcal Pandey for four Nepali inning consolidate by other opener Sharad Khadka and Dipendra Chand. Khadka scored 14 and Chand scored 38 not out to win comprehensively in 18.3 overs. Skipper Swichan Shah (four) and Sanam Shrestha (nine) are other contrubutor. Nischal Pandey declared man of the match later.

Meanwhile, Bahrain beat Kuwait by seven wickets and Singapore defeated Malaysia by 53 runs in the other matches of the day. At the Pulchowk Engineering grounds, Kuwait were bowled out for 111 runs in 20.4 overs and Bahrain overcame the total losing three wickets in 21 overs. At the Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya grounds, Singapore scored a mammoth 194-9 in 40 overs and restricted Malaysia for 141 runs in 35.2 overs.
