Last match of the league and it’s result created tense in the dressing room of Nepal, USA and Singapore after Nepal lost with USA and the game interrupted by crowd. Singapore won the match against the Jersey quite comprehensively and on the way for qualify for Division 4 but the fortune, normally not in favor for Nepal is turn around Nepal’s favor and Nepali team qualify for Division IV along with USA, who beat Nepal by 5 wickets on D/L method in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division-V at TU Ground, Kirtipur.
Batting first, Nepal able to score mere 162/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Thanks to vice captain Gyanendra Malla and Mehboob Alam for their patient 52 and 38 runs respectively. Other major contributor are Sharad Vesawkar(15), Basanta Regmi and Paras Khadka 12 runs each. For USA, Right-arm medium pacer Kevin Darlington was the peak of the USA bowlers with 3-23 off 10 overs. Orlando Baker got 2 and Suja and Lenox Cush shared 1 wicket apiece. USA overcame the revised target of 157 runs losing five wickets in 33.3 overs. Sushil Nadkarmi scored 57 not out and Steve Massiah scored 42 runs to took their team to comfortable victory.
Nepal almost out of the tournament but the interfere in the game yielded positive run rate for Nepal and Nepal stand above the Singapore in point tally with 0.004 net run rate. Nepal will play final against USA in same venue.
