First time in the ACC Twenty20 Cup 2009 cricket tournament, Nepal defeated opposition with strong batting display. Bahrain scored 157/8 in their allotted 20 overs and Nepal overcame the target and scored 159 in 18 overs losing 3 wickets. Opener Dipendra Chaudhary scored 47 runs, Binod Bhandari 11 runs. Likewise, vice captain Gyanendra Malla and Captain Paras Khadka shared unbeaten 94 runs stand. They made 48 and 47 runs respectively. Sameer got 2 wickets and Hatal got 1 wicket for Bahrain.
At first inning Bahrain's batsmen firing against Nepali bowler and hits balls all over the ground. H Naseer scored highest 53 runs and I Sajjad made 44 runs. A Shahzad scored 29 not out for Bahrain. Binod Das grabbed 3 wickets and Mehboob Alam picked 2. Whereas Basanta Regmi and Paras Khadka shared 1 wicket each.
Despite the huge margin of win, Nepal failed to make in to the semi final as Kuwait is in front Nepal with better net run rate. This is a painful moment for Nepali cricket as Nepal failed to advance on second level in two editions of the same tournament.
