Defending modest total of 180 runs, Nepali spinner restricted Sigapore for mere 164 runs and win by 16 runs at the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division-V match at the Pulchowk Engineering grounds in Nepal. Batting first, Nepali inning boosted by Man of the Match and No 7 allrounder Basanta Regmi’s fine half century and able to score respectable total. Sharad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan and Paras Khadka are other major contributor as they score 32, 24 and 18 respectively. For Singapore, Mulewa Dharmichand took 3 wickets and Saad Janjua grab two. Manoj Kumar and Buddhika Mendis share one wicket apiece.
In process of second successive win, Nepali bowler restricted Singapore in 47.5 overs. Nepali spinner shares 9 wickets between them and got one wicket as runout. Sanjam was the pick of Nepali bowler took 4 wickets and Basanta Regmi got 2. Shakti Gauchan, Rahul BK and skipper Paras Khadka, who normally bowls medium pace, switched to off-spin, register one wicket in their name.
Singapore coach Marvan Atapattu partly blamed the wicket for his side's defeat. His counterpart Roy Luke Dias, also a former Sri Lankan international, praised the way his boys played. Nepal will meet Bahrain in next match.
