Region
No 3 Kathmandu won the Wai Wai U19 National Cricket Tournament by the help of
six-wicket haul from Prakash Bista B as they routed Region no 2 Birgunj by 86
runs at final match in Pulchowk Engineering Cricket ground, Lalitpur.

Kathmandu
scored respectable 178 runs losing all wickets in 46.3 overs at low bounce
pitch of engineering ground after winning the toss. Batsmen of region no 3
Kathmandu struggled with strong bowling line up of Birgunj but they built the
total defendable. Consistent batsman Bibhatsu Thapa made highest 52 runs for
the team. Opener Prakash Bista A made 27 runs and Pawan Shrestha added 24 runs
to the team's total. Pacer Ram Naresh Giri took four wickets of Kathmandu to
restrict them below 200. He was well support by Ashib Poudel and Irshad Ahamed,
as they took three and two wickets respectively. Kathmandu's total boosted by
17 extra runs given by Birgunj.
Birgunj
team's moral trembled when their major batsman Amit Shrestha lost his wicket at
first ball he faced off Prakash Bista B. Bista took another two top order
wickets when Birgunj just scored eight runs. Then after, Som Pal Kami removed
another opener Aqueit
Ali Ansari to damage the top order. Birgunj continue to loss their wicket until
number seven batsmen Anil Shah displayed fight and batted well against
Kathmandu's bowlers. Anil played his shot without hesitation and scored with
decent rate even though other batsman unable to help him. Anil made 52 runs
before giving his wicket to Som Pal Kami as eighth wicket to fell. Birgunj
managed to score mere 92 runs in 26.3 overs. Prakash Bista B gave 23 runs for
his six wickets. Som Pal took three wickets and Navin Kumar Yadav got a wicket.
Prakash
Bista B claimed Man of the finalaward by his outstanding performance with ball
and he awarded Rs 5000 for that feat. Likewise, Lalit Singh Bhandari of Region
No 9 adjudged Man of the series and he got Rs 10000 for the achievement. Best
batsman trophy goes to Sunil Dhamala of Region no 9 Kanchanpur and he got Rs
5000 and Best bowler Abhisek Jha of Region no 7 Janakpur also got Rs 5000.
The
U19 national tournament is selection basis for upcoming U-19 Asia Cup cricket
tournament. Nepal along with Afghanistan, Malaysia and UAE are the Associates participants
and test nations Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka were other partakers
of the eight-team competition.
